so i went outside to smoke a cigarette. i could faintly hear my music outside. then, i heard someone scream from a house behind mine - i thought he (the seemingly male voice) said "cops!" ... and had troubled thoughts as three cars sped by in front of me coming from either direction. then, i heard what sounded like a scuffle, followed by one entire chorus of the "push it" song ... (as unfamiliar as i am ... i only know the lyrics, so i shall paraphrase: "push it, ... push it real good, etc. etc."

today, i was amazed: i made the incredibly idiotic decision to try a 24oz latte with six(6!) shots. this drink, of course, i ordered directly after i finished my first latte. *sigh*. anyway, i feel like shit - i'll tie in a quotation from the material i was reading at the moment.

"The cow milk molecule is one hundred times larger than the molecule of mother's milk. But the goat milk molecule and the human milk molecule are practically the same size. That's why goat milk is easy for us to digest and cow milk is like sand in the gas take of the gut ... More and more people are discovering that cow's milk isn't fit for human consumption."

did i mention that i had them make it will whole milk?

to continue listing a few passages that i found entertaining:

"Oh dear. Like most geniuses, the Countess was a very limited person. Sigmund Freud was so ignorant of art that the Surrealist painters had to explain their use of Freudian symbols over and over again, and still he didn't get it. Einstein never could remember to take the biscuits out of the oven. Those same forces that drive a genius to create the things or ideas that entertain or enlighten us often gobble so much of his personality that he has none left for the social graces (Should you invite Van Gogh to your home he might stand on your sofa in his muddy boots and pee where he pleased), and the very act of creation requires such focused concentration that vast areas of knowledge may be completely overlooked. Well, so what? There is no evidence that generalized skills are in any way superior to specialized brilliance, and certainly that sputterless little candleflame of the mediocre mind known as 'common sense' has never produced anything worth celebrating."

Please note the disclaimer found in the Author's Note:

"Throughout this book I have used third person pronous and collective nous in the masculine gender. To those readers who may be offended by this, I apologize sincerely. Unfortunately, there are at this time no alternatives that do not either create confusion or impede the flow of language; which is to say, there are no acceptable alternatives. Here's hoping that when and if I publish again, there will be."

That's it for now.
/lame

edit: i was equally surprised that despite the fact the second drink contained so much espresso, it was very tasty. I couldn't get over how well it was prepared. (I have, incidentally, suffered through the 'burnt' taste at the same place; I have begun to learn who makes drinks well. i had expected it to be entirely too strong, nonethless, it was very balanced and had a clear, sweet bite.

<lj:music>my maths teacher, and no, it really isn't music</lj:music>

in the ongoing stage that is the drama in my life ...

last night while working on a project that i really don't have
any reason to be working on (i get no credit, etc) ... but it is
fairly interesting for the methods that are being utilized to
accomplish the work ...

basically (the irony and psychological insight bennie first provided) there is
a 'reload' button and a 'undeploy' button. now, these 'buttons' are aligned
right next to each other in a managing application for Tomcat
(official impl. of the servlet container spec).
So naturally, after so many close misses, i went to the application to reload
the running instances of the compiled classes (i had just made modifications)
and, well, i decided to click the undeploy button. Now, normally, this probably
wouldn't have been too bad of a mistake ... however ...

our group had not made a tar of the working source since august ...
and, not only does the undeploy function remove the running instance from the server,
but for some sadistic reason (perhaps the authors of Tomcat are elitist and want to
prove they are better than the bumbling idiots like myself that would make such a
mistake) it removes all .java source, all jsp files, basically everything in its
applications directory ... and no, it doesn't move it to some local trash folder,
it called the good ol' unix 'rm' -R command.

anyway ... i just received a response from the local sys admin here at clemson telling
me that he was restoring what was lost with a backup archive taken early tuesday morning
(1 am). so, all in all, the figurative 'bulging massive cock' will not end up impaling me,
just leaving me immobile and my ass sore for a while to come.
